Post Can I store the Excel files in shared path?
Hi,

My usage situation is, there will be more than one 'data admin', many KPI score submitters and many management leaders that will view the Scorecard dashboard. Today, all KPI submitters fill up the Excel template and send the file to the data admin. She consolidates the data through copy and paste and on the fixed date of every month, sends the final Excel to every management leaders. The leaders typically scans the trending charts for their respective functions (thought they have full visibility to charts of other business functions) and where there are abnormal variance (degradation of business performance), they will click into the raw data to try to identify the root cause (e.g. country overrunning budget or individual employees not submitting their timesheet on time). Because the raw data is a lot, the final excel file that gets sent around is around 15MB.

There are a few problems here:

- Huge data file being sent around in emails every month
- A lot of consolidation work for the data admin
- some of the raw data (KPI) is available in daily updates but this manual process is causing the summary to be available only on a monthly basis

Initially, I am looking for a web-based solution but have not found the solution that can:

- allow each submitter to upload the Excel files themselves
- Consolidation work defined once by admin and application will pick up the updated files automatically from then on.
- Charting and Pivot capabilities (like Excel)
- Security access rights to defined who can see what

After looking at the trial version, I believe your Ecelential tool will help improve some parts of this situation even though it is not web-based:

- speed up the consolidation work by the data adin
- potentially allow daily instead of monthly updates to the dashboard since the consolidation is made easier

But, if the raw data Excel file needs to be available to every management, this might cause a usability and deployment issue because these people are Director level and they are spread out in different countries. Is it possible to create a common shared drive (e.g. Z:\) for every dashboard user and define location of the Excel files to Z:\. then the only file to be distributed is the Dashboard itself (whenever there is a change to the dashboard).

Another question, do you have plans to migrate Xcelential to a web-server based solution?
